In the Image of God
Moses 2:26
And I, God, said unto mine Only Begotten, which was with me from the beginning: Let us make man in our image, after our likeness; and it was so. And I, God, said: Let them have dominion over the fishes of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.
I was born an artist. I love to create. My art is a window into who I truly am. When I create, I pour myself into it—it becomes an extension of my desires, thoughts, feelings, hopes, standards, beliefs, and aspirations.
I believe that God and Jesus Christ not only created us in Their image, but that we are also an extension of who They are. Within us are qualities that prepare us for growth, holiness, and a divine potential—capabilities, gifts, and power that can expand over time. As we look inward, we can come to know God and Christ more clearly, because we reflect the Godhead.
This world also has a powerful ability to distort the truth of who we are and who we can become. It plants seeds of doubt, worthlessness, and powerlessness, and it tries to convince us that our value is measured by appearance. In a painful twist, one of the most beautiful declarations of God—that we were created in Their very image—has been used as the adversary’s most effective weapon, persuading people that their worth rests solely on how they look.
So many of us get stuck in the narrative of “I’m not beautiful enough” that we rarely look deeper into the full truth of God’s declaration. Yes, we were created in Their image—but even more than that, we were created like Them beyond outward appearance. Deep within us is something divine, often hidden and buried under the mortal stories we’ve collected since birth. We forget that we are sons and daughters of God, and that as such, we have power, capacity, and the highest potential to become like Him.
